What you'll be doing...
As an Associate Director, you will be leading a team focused on scaling and managing AI-ML-Data Platform Engineering teams that cut across Verizon lines of businesses. You will also be championing the transformation of the organization towards Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices. In addition to this, you will be setting the standards and building reusable services to industrialize the platform and operations ecosystem. In this setup, you will be leading a team of people leaders, senior data/ML platform engineers and princ engineers. You will build best-in-class solutions and services on premise & Cloud. You will also play a key role in making ours a Great place to work through a strong focus on employee engagement, enablement and talent development.
Serving as a technology thought leader and advisor to the organization.
Building a diverse team with a strong leadership pipeline and an inclusive culture, and being a practitioner of attracting and retaining top Engineering talent.
Contributing to driving world class employee satisfaction through the implementation of relevant organizational initiatives that build on employee commitment.
Mentoring and guiding Senior experts and people leaders.
Defining & continuously measuring the objectives & key results to drive an outcome-oriented practice across the team.

Leading the AI and Data engineering platform & operations strategy and capabilities to provide best in class reliable infrastructure & support for Analytics and AI users / use cases
Setting the vision and driving the Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) transformation
Building cutting edge capabilities and services that improves the reliability of our platforms and data
Establishing best practices and governance routines to ensure adherence to SLA commitments to our business
Establishing and keeping the Cloud and Onprem ecosystem cost under governance through effective FinOps practices
Right sizing the work with partners / vendors in a managed services model where applicable
Staying informed on the latest advancements in AI and Data technology space, finding ways to deliver value by applying and customizing these to specific problem statements in the enterprise.
Fostering an innovation culture where our employees are engaged in pioneering work that can be shared externally in a number of ways like patents, open source, publications, etc.
Inspiring our team to create monetizable services that can be leveraged both within Verizon and externally with Verizon’s partners.
You will have a close working relationship with your US counterparts to establish trust and operate as one unified Platform Engineering team.
Driving Innovation and Efficiency: Inspire your team to drive innovation and efficiency by challenging them with niche and complex projects.
Effectively manage stakeholders and drive programs from end to end. You must possess strong presentation skills to communicate complex designs and outcomes to both technical and non-technical audiences. You will define and continuously measure objectives and key results to ensure an outcome-oriented practice.
What we're looking for…
You are a dynamic leader with outstanding analytical capabilities and strong technology leadership along with hands-on and leadership experience in Data and Platform engineering areas backed by strong experience in managing large scale infrastructure for AI, Analytics and Data needs. You are constantly challenging the status quo and identifying new innovative ways to drive your team towards new ways of working that creates efficiencies.
You’ll need to have:
Bachelor’s degree or six years of work experience.
Six or more years of relevant work experience.
Experience in leading and building Data / ML and Full stack engineering teams with specific focus on GCP, AWS, Hadoop and RDBMS ecosystems such as Teradata.
Experience in Site Reliability Engineering (SRE)
Experience in delivering business outcomes in large and complex business organizations.
Experience in communicating complex designs and outcomes to a non-technical audience.
Demonstrated ability to influence and lead teams in a matrixed organization, fostering strong collaboration with global counterparts
Willingness to travel up to approximately 10% of the time.
Even better if you have one or more of the following:
Master’s degree in Computer Science or an MBA.
Experience in implementing AIOps strategy and solution.
Experience in AI - ML Engineering.
Experience in Data Reliability Engineering (DRE).
Experience in driving large cost optimization programs on Cloud and on premises infrastructure
