What you'll be doing...
We use digital data as the fuel to propel us beyond our competition. As a Data Scientist specializing in AIOps and Agentic Systems, you will be instrumental in building the next generation of intelligent, autonomous systems. Your work will involve:
Analyzing large data sets to find actionable insights and build analytical models to predict customer behavior or business events.
Developing and implementing intelligent agents and LLM-driven solutions that automate and enhance operational workflows.
Applying advanced, state-of-the-art analysis and machine learning techniques to predict and prevent system anomalies.
Making data-driven recommendations and creating compelling visual representations of your findings to various business partners.
Maintaining databases and ensuring data quality to support our operational products.
Utilizing big data systems, including Teradata, Hive, Spark, and Postgres, to effectively extract, manipulate, and analyze data.
Promoting process improvement by continuously exploring cutting-edge research in data science, including agentic systems and LLMs.
Collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities to improve our operational products and customer experience.
What we're looking for...
You are a highly analytical and creative problem-solver with a passion for leveraging data science to build robust, autonomous systems. You are driven to turn data into stories and are able to extract significant and useful information from massive piles of data, presenting it to partners in a clear and compelling way.
Where you'll be working…

You'll need to have:
A Bachelor's degree or one or more years of relevant experience, demonstrated through work experience and/or military experience.
Deep knowledge of statistical modeling, probability, and machine learning principles, including supervised, unsupervised, and reinforcement learning.
Demonstrated expertise in Python, including libraries such as NumPy, Pandas, scikit-learn, Keras, TensorFlow, and PyTorch.
Exceptional skills in SQL and other query languages for extracting, analyzing, and manipulating data from big data systems.
Proven experience with LLMs and building agentic systems using Copilot or pair programming.
Even better if you have:
A degree in statistics, mathematics, economics, engineering, business analytics, or data science.
Experience with advanced ML and NLP concepts, especially in recommendation systems, conversational systems, information retrieval, and regression modeling.
Strong lateral thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to connect disparate data points to form a complete picture.
Experience with visualization tools such as matplotlib, seaborn, Tableau, or Qlik.
If Verizon and this role sound like a fit for you, we encourage you to apply even if you don’t meet every “even better” qualification listed above.
