What you’ll be doing…

This University of Texas at Dallas (UT Dallas) Co-op position, which is part of the Verizon Campus Program, will allow you to channel your drive and enthusiasm as part of a 6-month program from January 12, 2026 to June 26, 2026 working a full-time schedule. You’ll be front and center, hands-on, and contributing your creative energy to high-impact projects from the moment you arrive.

As a Co-op with the Network Security team, some of the projects you may work on could enhance your skills in one or more of the following areas: 

  • Strengthening the security of the Verizon Edge network, comprising various devices, including network fabrics (Border Leaf, Spine, Access Leafs), CRS PE/P routers, and route reflectors. 

  • Cybersecurity. 

  • Penetration testing. 

  • Network programming/automation/scripting, and telecommunications.

  • Conducting asset inventory using Splunk and other data analytics tools. 

  • Developing automation to manage standard processes.

  • Operational playbook creation. 

  • Familiarity with multiple operating systems (Linux and Windows). 

  • Python, Java, JavaScript/Typescript, React, NodeJS, NextJS, expert systems software, and software automation (eg, ML, AI, IA, RPA, Ansible). 

  • System administration and network management: (e.g., OS level, design, install, and maintenance of hardware/software, patching vulnerabilities management, troubleshooting, monitoring, system upgrade, etc). 

  • Database administration and management:  (e.g., Oracle SQL, MySQL, MS SQL, etc.).

  • Information assurance and intrusion prevention.

  • Cloud security infrastructure, policies & standards, cloud vendor assessment, and security configuration.

  • Data Administration and Security: Data classifications, loss prevention (DLP), privacy, and incident review.

  • Identity and Access Management (e.g.,  Authentication, authorization, and accounting framework.

  • Multi-Factor Authorization-MFA, SAML 2.0, SSO, LDAPs/Directories, Active Directory).

  • Incident Response, incident management, triage  (RCA).

  • Network Security: external/internal network security and perimeter security.

You must be currently enrolled in a qualifying bachelor’s degree program at UT Dallas and be in good academic standing to be considered.

This Co-op position will be based out of Irving, TX, and follow a hybrid work schedule as set by the manager, including work-from-home and intentional in-person days. If relocation is required, relocation assistance may be available.

You’ll need to have:

  • Current enrollment in an NJIT Bachelor’s degree program in Cybersecurity, Network Security, Computer Science, Telecommunication, IT, Engineering, Wireless Technologies, High-Frequency Design, Artificial Intelligence, or a related major with an expected completion date between December 2026 and June 2027. 

  • This is a full-time, 6-month Co-op position. You must be able to work 40 hours per week from January 12, 2026 to June 26, 2026.

  • Authorization to work in the U.S. without restrictions or need for future sponsorship.

  • Willing and able to travel.

  • Willing and able to relocate.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Previous Internship or Co-op experience.

  • Engineering major is preferred.

  • Familiarity with cybersecurity, penetration testing, network programming/automation/scripting, and other telecommunication-related fields. 

  • Effective communication, collaboration, adaptability, and problem-solving. 

  • Integrity, time management, relationship building, and attention to detail. 

  • Demonstrated strong analytical, leadership, and presentation skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-moving team environment.

Where you’ll be working

In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes working from home and a minimum of three days per week in the office, which will be set by your manager. Employees are responsible for maintaining compliance with hybrid work policies.
