What you'll be doing...

The Employee Engagement team at Verizon is looking for a Senior Manager, Employee Engagement to support the Chief Legal Officer and leaders across the Legal, Security and Public policy organization. This strategic communications professional will manage internal communication initiatives to engage, inform, and inspire Verizon employees. You'll be a key member of the Employee Engagement team, working closely with various stakeholders to create and execute communications that empower employees, amplify their voices, and ensure they feel valued and connected to the organization’s success.

You will serve as a trusted, strategic counselor to senior leaders, translating complex information into clear, compelling, and actionable content. This role requires a candidate who is agile, adaptable, and resilient, with the ability to anticipate needs and collaborate with various stakeholders to deliver communications that align with company goals and enhance employee engagement. You will be directly involved in creating compelling content, managing internal communication channels, and coordinating employee programs and events.

Key responsibilities

  • Partnering with the Associate Director of Employee Engagement and the Executive Business Operations (EBO) team to develop and execute a comprehensive, end-to-end employee engagement strategy for the Policy, Responsible Business, Legal, Security (PRLS) team.

  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with  internal stakeholders and provide strategic counsel to the executive team. Assisting senior leaders in crafting internal messages that communicate key initiatives and updates.

  • Developing exceptional written content to inform employees of company-wide and PRLS strategic priorities/campaigns. 

  • Collaborating with the EBO team to plan and deliver PRLS All Hands meetings and AMAs (which may be virtual, hybrid or in-person).

  • Utilizing data-driven insights (including pulse surveys, feedback and Poppulo metrics) to monitor and measure the effectiveness of employee engagement initiatives.

  • Proactively identify opportunities to deepen employees' pride and sense of belonging – a key ingredient of driving customer experiences through great employee experiences – and empowering employees to act as brand ambassadors and advocate for Verizon as an Employer of Choice.

  • Engaging internal stakeholders in creating an innovative employee experience by leveraging new technologies and tools to enhance engagement.

What we're looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through one or a combination of work and/or military experience, or specialized training.
  • Six or more years in internal communications, employee engagement, or a related field.
  • Exceptional written, visual, and verbal communication abilities, with a proven ability to think strategically and develop solutions.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Demonstrated ability to influence, counsel, and guide senior leaders as a trusted advisor.
  • Extreme attention to detail and a commitment to holding internal and external partners to the same high standards.
  • Ability to infuse fresh ideas into communications to grab attention and raise the bar on their effectiveness.
  • Experience with Google Workspace/G Suite, Poppulo, Slack, AirTable.
  • Familiarity with legal, compliance and/or cybersecurity.
  • Knowledge of best practices in communicating organizational changes and managing employee communications during transitions.
  • Proficiency in using AI (Gemini) to generate assets and enhance communication materials.
  • A sincere belief that work should also be fun!

Where you’ll be working

In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes working from home and a minimum of three days per week in the office, which will be set by your manager. Employees are responsible for maintaining compliance with hybrid work policies.

The salary will vary depending on your location and confirmed job-related skills and experience. This is an incentive based position with the potential to earn more. For part-time roles, your compensation will be adjusted to reflect your hours.

The annual salary range for the location(s) listed on this job requisition based on a full-time schedule is: $115,500.00 - $201,000.00.
