What you'll be doing...
This role is key to amplifying the impact of Verizon's Responsible Business programs within local communities through a dynamic blend of event strategy, promotions, and marketing. The Manager, Responsible Business Community Engagement & Events, will be a skilled project manager and operational expert who leads the entire lifecycle of an event, from initial planning and budgeting to execution, marketing and post-event analysis. These events will be designed to support our go-to-market strategy and resonate with program specific audiences such as small businesses, educators, workforce development professionals, individuals looking for new skillsets, as well as key local stakeholders, including government officials, community leaders, and influential nonprofit partners. A core function of this role is to develop and execute marketing, awareness and recruitment efforts for our Responsible Business CSR programs, leveraging events as a primary vehicle for engagement and promotion.
Core Responsibilities:
Event Strategy & Planning: Understand key priorities across Responsible Business, Verizon’s business units, and public policy to develop a holistic calendar of events that drives company objectives. This includes identifying priority issue areas, developing messaging frameworks, selecting key local markets, and defining target stakeholders.
End-to-End Event Execution: Lead the strategic curation and operational execution of all responsible business events from inception to post-event analysis. Ensure each event is a highly curated experience that fosters meaningful connections and advances Verizon's business goals. As the central point of contact, you will manage project timelines, define tasks, secure venues, and ensure all on-site elements run flawlessly.
Stakeholder Collaboration & Alignment:
Internal: Build and manage relationships across a wide network of internal partners, including Strategic Alliances, Responsible Business program teams, Government Affairs, and Business Units to align on objectives and execution.
External: Identify, vet, and manage outside consultants and partners. Facilitate deep engagement with both grassroots community partners and "grasstops" leaders who can identify speakers, influence policy, enhance event participation, and amplify Verizon's community investments to boost company reputation.
Content & Communications:
Messaging & Storytelling: Partner with internal stakeholders to develop event agenda, messaging strategy and all event-related communications. Be instrumental in the storytelling that highlights the impact of Verizon’s community investments, from initial messaging strategy to executive talking points and comprehensive briefing books.
Promotions & Marketing: Lead the development and execution of marketing plans to promote events and amplify their impact. Drive the creation of compelling content (e.g., beneficiary stories) and collaborate with internal partners to extend the event's reach through social media, influencer engagement, and strategic partnerships with media outlets to build brand reputation and awareness of our programs.
Performance Measurement & Reporting: Develop and maintain a system for tracking Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure event success against business objectives. Regularly communicate the impact, ROI, and key learnings to senior leadership.
Program Expertise & Representation: Develop a deep understanding of our key responsible business programs. Serve as a strong public speaker, confidently representing Verizon’s Responsible Business initiatives at events as needed.
Program Marketing & Recruitment: Develop and implement marketing strategies to support general awareness and recruitment for our Responsible Business programs. Partner with marketing teams to create promotional materials and leverage events as a key channel for program growth.
