What you’ll be doing…


We are looking for an expert principal engineer in container orchestration, engineering, and architecting multi-cloud strategy across Verizon. You will be part of a World Class Container Platform team that builds and operates highly scalable Kubernetes based container platforms at a large scale for VGS at Verizon, a top 20 Fortune 500 company. This individual will have a high level of technical expertise and be hands-on as part of the product team that is involved in engineering and enabling new products and services. This entitles programming and orchestrating the deployment of feature sets into the Kubernetes CaaS platform along with building containers via a fully automated CI/CD pipeline utilising Terraform, ArgoCD, Ansible playbooks, CI/CD tools and process (Jenkins, JIRA, GitLab), Go, Python, Shell Scripts or any other scripting technologies.This individual will lead the design, architecture, and delivery of enterprise-grade Multi cloud Kubernetes platforms. This role will drive our cloud-native strategy, ensuring scalability, resilience, security, and operational excellence for mission-critical workloads running on Openshift, GKE, OKE and EKS
 

  • Driving engineering solutions for different components of a container platform like, Logging, Monitoring, Security and SRE practices

  • Providing technical guidance to the product engineering team, covering architecture, design, development, and end-user support.

  • Evaluating new services and solutions for their potential value within Verizon.

  • Analyzing new product opportunities and technologies, recommending enhancements for the platform.

  • Conducting Proof of Concept (POC) technical evaluations for new technologies for both cloud and on-premise environments.

  • Partnering with peers in the industry and bench mark architecture, designs and coding standards.

  • Having focused attention on security. Infuse and adopt security through a design approach.

  • Adopting Copilot tools to drive efficiencies into SDLC processes and drive increased productivity of the teams.

  • Infusing and imbibing the culture of AI Driven solutions for container orchestration and SDLC process streamlining.

What we’re looking for...
You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 6 or more years experience

  • Experience in platform automation using Terraform, Ansible playbooks, CI/CD tools and processes (Jenkins, JIRA, GitLab), Python, Shell Scripts, or other scripting technologies.

  • Experience in building applications with Docker & Kubernetes or managing Kubernetes platforms at an enterprise level.

  • Proficiency in container NSA and Openshift Virtualization (KubeVirt) and Nutanix.

  • Expertise in Anthos, Istio/Service Mesh, and Helm.

  • Experience in integrating OKE with OCI services.

  • Experience in building cloud-native applications or migrating legacy applications to cloud platforms (GCP, OCI, or AWS).

  • Knowledge in Open Policy Agent, ArgoCD, OTel, and other cloud-native projects/tools.

  • Experience with container security scanning products.

  • Experience in building high-performance container platforms, products, or applications that are scalable and resilient across hybrid container platforms (Openshift, OKE, GKE, and Cloud-Native K8s).

  • Debugging skills and a proclivity for collaborating with stakeholders to deliver automated platform services on multi-cloud container platforms.

  • Experience in designing large-scale clusters in EKS.

  • Knowledge of DevOps tools and processes.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Experience in Openshift, CKA, CKS, GCP, OCI and AWS certifications are highly desirable.

  • Experience in fully managed end to end deployment of ArgoCD as a platform 

  • Experience in full fledged OKE / GKE GitOps orchestration. 

  • Knowledge in Container Security & Governance 

  • Exposure to industry best practices observability postures pertaining to multi cloud container platform

  • Exposure to more than 1 CI/CD tools like Github, Gitlab, ArgoCD, CloudBees Jenkins

  • Experience to demonstrate CI/CD strategy and create vision statements for large container ecosystems with multi cloud architecture

  • Experience in AI Infusions and Gen AI implementations on container ecosystems to enhance developer experience and reduce manual toil

  • Excellent Communication skills
