What you'll be doing...
You will be providing expert-level database administration support for mission-critical production environments on AWS, leading complex cloud database projects and mentoring junior team members.
Leading design and implementation of Cassandra, MongoDB, and PostgreSQL/Oracle database solutions on AWS.
Implementing AWS database services (RDS, Aurora, DynamoDB).
Performing advanced database performance tuning and optimization using AWS Performance Insights and native tools.
Managing complex database upgrades, migrations, and patches across AWS environments and regions.
Implementing and managing database replication, clustering, and high availability solutions across AWS AZs.
Developing automation scripts and infrastructure as code using AWS CLI, CloudFormation, and Terraform.
Designing and implementing AWS backup and disaster recovery strategies across regions.
Providing technical leadership and mentoring to junior DBAs on AWS best practices.
Collaborating with architecture teams on AWS database design, capacity planning, and cost optimization.
Managing shift-based database support operations and incident response using AWS monitoring tools.
Implementing basic AWS backup strategies using automated snapshots and cross-region backup.
Establishing database SLI/SLO metrics and error budgets for AWS-hosted databases.

What we're looking for...
You'll need to have:
Bachelor's degree or four or more years of relevant work experience.
Three or more years of experience in database administration with proven expertise in AWS environments.
Expert-level knowledge of Cassandra, MongoDB, and PostgreSQL/Oracle on AWS.
Advanced SQL and NoSQL query optimization skills in cloud environments.
Extensive experience with AWS database services (RDS, Aurora, DynamoDB).
Proven experience with AWS database clustering, replication, and multi-AZ high availability.
Experience with AWS infrastructure automation tools (CloudFormation, Terraform).
Deep knowledge of AWS security services (IAM, KMS, Secrets Manager, WAF) for database protection.
Experience with AWS monitoring and alerting ecosystem (CloudWatch, SNS, EventBridge).
Knowledge of AWS cost management and optimization strategies for database workloads.
Even better if you have one or more of the following:
AWS Solutions Architect Associate or Professional certification.
AWS Database Specialty certification • MongoDB, Cassandra, or PostgreSQL professional certifications.
Experience with AWS container services (ECS, EKS) for database workloads.
Experience with database-as-code and GitOps workflows using AWS services.
Understanding of microservices architecture and AWS database patterns.
Knowledge of AWS disaster recovery strategies and cross-region replication.
Excellent analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills for AWS-hosted systems.
Experience with AWS Well-Architected Framework implementation and reviews.
