What you’ll be doing...

Verizon is looking for a AI/ML Developer with hands-on experience in developing and deploying AI/ML models. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on challenging real-world problems, collaborate with experienced data scientists and engineers, and contribute to the full lifecycle of AI/ML product development. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in machine learning theory, excellent programming skills, and a passion for continuous learning and innovation in the AI/ML space.

  • Model Development: Design, develop, train, and evaluate machine learning models and algorithms to solve specific business problems, focusing on [mention specific areas if applicable, e.g., natural language processing, computer vision, predictive analytics, recommendation systems].

  • Data Handling: Collaborate with data scientists to collect, pre-process, clean, and analyze large datasets to ensure data quality and suitability for model training.

  • Implementation & Deployment: Implement AI/ML models into existing software systems and infrastructure, ensuring scalability, efficiency, and robustness. This includes developing and maintaining robust MLOps pipelines for model deployment, monitoring, and retraining.

  • Optimisation: Optimise and fine-tune existing AI/ML models for better performance, accuracy, and efficiency (e.g., reducing latency, improving accuracy on edge cases).

  • Code Quality & Best Practices: Write clean, well-documented, and testable code. Adhere to software engineering best practices, including version control (Git), unit testing, and code reviews.

  • Research & Innovation: Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in AI/ML research, frameworks, and tools. Proactively explore and propose new techniques and technologies to enhance our solutions.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, software engineers, product managers, and business stakeholders, to understand requirements, integrate solutions, and communicate technical concepts effectively to non-technical audiences.

  • Problem Solving: Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to AI/ML applications and pipelines.

What we’re looking for...

We are looking for someone with a strong grasp of core AI/ML concepts, algorithms, and hands-on experience with frameworks like TensorFlow or PyTorch. The candidate should be highly skilled in Python for model development and experienced in building robust MLOps pipelines for deploying and managing AI solutions. Should be comfortable with everything from data preprocessing and feature engineering to model training, evaluation, and optimisation.

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or three or more years of work experience.

  • Strong proficiency in AI/ML development, machine learning engineering, or a similar role.

  • Good knowledge in Python, including experience with core libraries for data manipulation and analysis.

  • Proven ability to handle complex datasets, including data cleaning, feature engineering, and data augmentation.

  • Strong understanding of software engineering best practices, including object-oriented programming, design patterns, and agile methodologies.

  • Proficient with Git and collaborative development workflows.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or in a team.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Understanding of cloud technologies, preferably AWS (EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, etc.).

  • AWS Certification.

  • Ability to design and implement solutions with ease of use.

If Verizon and this role sound like a fit for you, we encourage you to apply even if you don’t meet every “even better” qualification listed above.
