What you’ll be doing...
Senior Manager of IoT Development will partner with the Product Development, Program Management, DevOps, IT, Customer Care and Infrastructure teams to assist in driving a various strategic and tactical initiatives to sustain existing solutions, and to architect scalable and sustainable framework and lead a team of subject matter experts to support and operate Verizon’s IoT platform(ThingSpace). You will work in partnership with the multitude of internal organizations and senior leadership.
You enjoy a balance of strategic thinking, “rolling up the sleeves” to drive tactical issues and support Verizon 5G Business Internet and Fixed Wireless Access efforts. You will make recommendations, to business leaders, based on understanding of the strategic landscape, and based on fact-based business cases.
- Providing vision and leadership to a strong team of engineers.
- Leading platform software architecture and vision for services.
- Managing schedules/Team, be accountable and deliver projects on time in a fast paced agile environment.
- Being passionate about learning new technologies and creating innovative solutions.
- Developing 24x7 no downtime highly available IoT services in Production environment.
- Contributing technically and own architectural oversight of system/services.
- Creating an atmosphere of innovation for creating next generation IoT services.
- Working with Product Management and Operations to successfully deploy services.
- Supporting 24x7 available services and triaging customer requests.

You’ll need to have:
- Bachelor’s degree or Seven or more years of work experience.
- Six or more years of relevant work experience.
- Software development experience in a diverse set of areas including scalable web applications, web services, message queues.
- Experience in leading Software projects/development teams.
- Experience with performance tuning, scalability and availability.
- Experience in the software development cycle.
- Experience in Java/J2EE application development including experience leading a technical team in such web technologies
Even better if you have one or more of the following:
- Experience in project management including waterfall and agile methodologies.
- Experience triaging/handling high pressure customer end user/requests.
- Experience in a DevOps software development environment.
- Experience migrating web applications to Cloud (AWS, Oracle Cloud or Cloud Foundry etc.)
- Knowledge and experience of Docker/Container technologies.
- Experience with NoSQL/scale out messaging technologies.
