What you’ll be doing...

The Senior Manager of EMEA Payroll is responsible for the timely, compliant and accurate pay of Verizon employees in nearly 30 EMEA countries, leading a team of payroll professionals.  This requires a deep understanding of global payroll practices, flexibility, the ability to effectively lead an organization, and the capability to manage a complex stakeholder and vendor landscape.

This leadership position will be responsible for the supervision, monitoring and career development of the EMEA Payroll team, managing assignment and oversight of daily activities to ensure work is distributed, balanced, and supported to achieve Service Level Agreements (SLA’s) and other performance objectives/metrics.  This position will also build, develop and support stakeholder relationships inside and outside Verizon, including HR, Compensation, Finance, Legal, Tax, Global Technology, and external vendors.

What we’re looking for...

  • Lead EMEA payroll operations and partnership with multiple stakeholders to provide support on payroll-related issues. Lead the year-end payroll activities.

  • Manage the team and work to ensure pay calculations are processed and validated each pay cycle, and control reports are reviewed with appropriate and timely sign-off.  Identify and resolve unexpected fluctuations.

  • Lead and manage the day-to-day payroll activities ensuring accurate & timely processing in compliance with the company's policies and local tax and labor regulations

  • Review and approve all payroll-related transactions for the EMEA region.

  • Ensure timely filings with appropriate government authorities.

  • wnership of vendor relationships, accountable for processing service level agreements (SLAs) including, but not limited to, timeliness and accuracy.

  • Ensure employee inquiries are addressed in a timely and accurate manner; act as the point of contact for escalations and stakeholder collaboration.

  • Partner with cross-functional groups within the company, to ensure payroll needs are identified, considered, and communicated.

  • Maintain and update process and control documentation.

  • Maintain a complete understanding of all wage and hour laws related to payroll, including garnishments, benefits, leave of absence, pension, and tax reporting for the EMEA region.

  • Participate in and provide leadership for projects in support of business initiatives that have an impact on employee pay.

  • Support, coach and guide team members; provide ongoing performance feedback; perform team management functions such as training, goal setting, evaluation of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), mid-year and annual reviews.

  • Serve as primary backup support for Associate Director, when needed. 

Where you'll be working...In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days set by your manager.

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree or relevant work experience.

  • People leadership experience.

  • Experience of directly managing vendor relationships.

  • Working knowledge of HCM and Payroll systems (Workday, PeopleSoft, Oracle, SAP or similar), including reporting and data analysis.

  • Functional understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and industry standards for internal control concepts and principles.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • History managing organizations with team members of diverse backgrounds and varying locations.

  • Understanding of various EMEA country of local wage and tax laws.

  • Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to identify issues and propose solutions to complex or non-standard situations.

  • Strong work ethic and ability to be productive and thrive in a fast-paced work environment.

  • Payroll, Finance or HR professional certifications.

  • Training or background in identifying and implementing process improvements.

  • Experience with advanced reporting, analytic and dashboard tools.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and/or Google suite.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the the demonstrated ability to present information to all levels of the organization.

  • Advanced understanding of EMEA end-to-end international payroll processing operations (including pay calendars, data and system transmissions, approvals and sign-offs, reporting, etc.) and key performance indicators that drive business results.
