What you’ll be doing...
We are committed to providing the highest levels of compliance and you will support our efforts by ensuring the accurate and timely filing of state and local tax returns as well as claims for reimbursement for our regulated and non-regulated companies. You will also perform a variety of other activities including data analysis, journal entries, account reconciliations, issue resolution, and more. Your work will have a direct impact on our reported financial results and ensure compliance with internal controls and external legislation.
Preparing and filing Federal and state claims in accordance with all laws and regulations.
Mitigating liabilities, and preparing reconcilliations and balancing account.
Analyzing financial data and working across finance functions to resolve payment issues.
Assisting leaders with research and audits requiring efficient and detailed analysis.
Responding timely to all requests for data and assessments to minimize potential penalties.
Complying with new legislative changes as issued by state and local taxing authorities.
Ensure adherence to all SOX controls
Assist with all Regulatory related audits, as needed
Focus on identifying process improvements and streamlining existing procedures
What we’re looking for...
You are well versed in mathematical analysis and enjoy digging into details to identify root causes. Communicating complex details in a way everyone understands comes naturally to you. You know how to present your ideas with clarity and confidence, and the fact that you can have a real impact on our business is highly motivating to you.
You’ll need to have:
Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
Three or more years of relevant work experience.
State and local tax compliance experience.
Experience with Microsoft Excel and Access.
Even better if you have one or more of the following:
Regulatory experience
Experience with tax accounting, SOX processes, telecommunication taxes, and tax saving strategies
Understanding compliance procedures, accrual methodology, and tax initiatives
Familiarity with the data requirements needed for the preparation and filing of tax returns (ie: knowledge of billing systems, etc.)
Ability to prioritize deliverables with competing timelines
Knowledge of tax software systems, such as Vertex
Previous exposure to PeopleSoft, SAP, ERP (or other major General Ledger Suite Software)
Ability to use analytical software such as, but not limited to, Alteryx and Qlik
Knowledge of artificial intelligence (ie: “BOTS”) technical skills
Prior experience handling audits and replying to Auditors
